This September, Congress approved the Military Commissions Act of 2006, (Senate Bill 3930, House Bill 6166). This act gives the President of the United States sole and exclusive power to determine what constitutes torture and what (if any) punishment shall be meted out to those who torture. Further, the President would have power to declare any person a terrorist on his sole authority, without evidence or oversight, and hold such persons imprisoned indefinitely, at home or abroad, without even revealing that those persons are in custody or even exist.

Based on George W. Bush's open statements that practices considered by the rest of the world as torture, including near-drowning, beatings and electric shock, are not torture so long as they do not lead to actual death, it must be concluded that any and every person who voted for the Military Commissions Act of 2006 supports and endorses torture.

If you believe torture is immoral, wrong, and un-American,
DO NOT VOTE FOR THESE PEOPLE!
VOTE FOR ANY OPPONENT THEY HAVE THIS FALL!
DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO BE RE-ELECTED!

Well, I am glad to see that none of the senators or repressentatives from my state (MA) are listed above. At least some people still have integrity! Actually, that should be said for everyone who voted against this act.

Thank you for posting this - it's an important issue, and not just for the coming election.

Frankly I'm for torture at the right times. Just not in Bush's hands because that would be *always*.

Personally, I'm kinda surprised that anyone from Kansas DIDN'T vote in favor. I guess first district is Kansas City Kansas and runs a little more blue.

Ryun, BTW, is hammering on his opponent being in favor of cutting and running, unsurprisingly. And pointing out how he's all for tax cuts and balancing the budget. I am SO voting for Boyda.
