Kris, that's a surprisingly female attitude -- and I don't mean that as a slam. But you're expressing something that cultural sexism tells women all the time: don't toot your own horn, just sit around and passively wait for Important People to notice you. And many, many women internalize it.

The problem with that is, "they" never will notice you sitting there waiting to be noticed -- because they'll keep being distracted by other people who aren't so reticent. It's okay to vote for yourself, goddammit!
