So, just a minute ago my desktop computer got attacked with the "XP Guard" malware- one of those lovely fake antivirus scams that claims you have more viruses than Strong Bad's 386, demands you pay for an upgrade, and refuses to be shut down or removed.
And this while I'm in the middle of updates to my ACTUAL antivirus software on that machine, too. I'm starting a scan anyway (with XP Guard trying to block me from getting AVG running), and I'll let you know what happens...
... oh, where did I get it? There are several possibilities, but I think the most likely are either TinyURL or PoliticalWire.com- since it was clicking on a shrunken URL from PWire on Twitter that started the attack.
Grr... this is one of the DISadvantages of DSL. On dialup I could usually shut these fuckers down BEFORE they loaded and began operating...
