These numbers are rough- I'm only spot-checking the Texas Ethics Commission totals.

John Otto - Republican -

Campaign cash in hand on Jan. 1, 2006 - $20,333.00
Funds Raised Jan. 1, 2006 - Oct. 28, 2006 - $81,375.88
Campaign Expenditures Jan. 1, 2006 - Oct. 28, 2006 - $41,370.78

Kris Overstreet - Libertarian -

Campaign cash in hand on Jan. 1, 2006 - $100.00
Funds Raised Jan. 1, 2006 - Oct. 28, 2006 - $1,345.55
Campaign Expenditures Jan. 1, 2006 - Oct. 28, 2006 - $1,323.74

DONATIONS

PACs, Law Firms, Accounting Firms, and Corporations - $63,124.68
Lobbyists - $3,812.34
Individuals - $14,520.78

Notable donors: the President and the Chairman of EZ Rentals, Bill Perry of Perry Homes, Wal-Mart, Landry's Restaurants, UPS, Valero, ConocoPhillips, TexacoChevron... well, a LOT of oil company PACs, and a TON of lawyers. Oh, and Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

Five largest donors: Ryan & Company Texas PAC ($5,000), Texas Association of Realtors PAC ($4,000), Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott LLP ($3,000), Texans for Economic Development PAC ($2,500), Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Assoc. PAC ($2,000).

Campaign advertising: TV and Radio - $0, Newspapers - $2,449.68, Direct Mail - $18,252.01, Signs - $1,479.38, Bumper Stickers - $364.38.

The sheer weight of corporate and PAC money here makes me come round to the idea of total exclusion of corporate donations to political campaigns, almost...
