So, I spent a couple hours this afternoon creating a new Amazon Wish List to enter their annual "some lucky schmuck wins their entire wish list" contest.

For those of you who care, here's an URL to my (two now) Amazon Wish Lists:

The cheap stuff

The pricey crap

Those of you who read this LJ, post your birthdays and Amazon wishlists. The odds are damn long I'll send you a gift, but if I happen to be flush with money come the day and I find something cheap, I'll send it. (And who knows? Maybe other readers here will gift you!)

For the moment, I'd rather you did not send me any of my Wish List items, at least not until after the contest ends June 19th. You see, I am GOING to WIN that contest and get that stuff ANYWAY. No way is it not going to happen. So DON'T ENTER THE CONTEST AND SCREW THINGS UP FOR ME!

Of course, if somebody cheats me out of my rightful contest victory, and I end up winning absolute jack shit, then feel free to gift me...

... although right now I do need cash for various purposes a hell of a lot more than I need, say, Suikoden IV...

... and come to think of it, maybe a contest on WLP's website will encourage sales.

OK, you heard it here first: WLP's current mail-order packing slips passed #400 with the last shipout. Here's the contest: the person whose order goes through the system as #500 gets his or her entire order FREE, shipping and all; payment is refunded, no matter how large the order. (This is only good for retail orders, not wholesale.)

That means, if the order is for only one comic, then the prize is worth about $10 counting shipping. If the order is for one of everything, the prize is worth close to a grand.

Hopefully money will begin rolling in...

So, thanks to a friend, I have a new computer.

Unfortunately, I have to buy a modem and a DVD-R drive before I can shift over to using it as WLP's main machine. (The modem for obvious reasons; it has an Ethernet card, but I'm clueless about it. The DVD-R drive is to bear off the first ten new Doctor Who episodes which currently take up about 70% of the new machine's hard drive, and each of which is larger than a CD-R's capacity.)

On that new computer my web browser will be either Mozilla (pre-installed) or FireFox, depending. It will NOT be Netscape 7.1, which among other things causes my LJ windows to have a menu-editing overlap.

This overlap glitched up my first attempt to back-date the "Internet Denizens: Ho'd" post to when it was first written, and thus forced me to write this post apologizing for the inconvenience and pointing to the damn thing's current location:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/redneckgaijin/2004/05/17/

The fact that the thing is a memory hog of the first order also annoys me.

Soon, all too soon, I shall take about $40 and go buy a combination DVD-R / CD-R drive at Wallyworld... and then you, Netscape, shall be a thing of the past.

(And shortly thereafter the long-promised Cream & Sugar collection can be put into production...)
