That.... DAMN... dog...
Jul. 19th, 2005 06:46 pmMy grandmother has a dog. A small one, raised as a lap dog, but we (thank God!!) don't allow dogs in the house.
We have a number of feral cats, a few of which we are trying to tame.
Just now I was on the back porch, petting a mother cat who has brought her three kittens to the porch. The kittens are wary and distrustful of people, but the mother seems to enjoy being petted...
... or she did until that goddamn dog ATTACKED one of the ferals nearby. The noise from the brief battle which followed startled the mother cat, who sank claws and teeth into my hand and wrist.
This is merely the latest in a long series of incidents which have given me good reason to LOATHE THAT IDIOTIC DOG.
As much as I generally prefer kindness to animals, if I ever have any proof that that dog actually causes injury to any other animal, especially the cats, there will be one less dog in the world.
(And what is it with dogs who, when spanked, -enjoy- it? How the hell do you discipline such spoiled, attention-hungry, nitwitted animals? I HATE SMALL DOGS.)

Somehow Bush still manages to shock me...

Bush nominating a radical theocrat judge like Roy Moore, I expected.
Bush nominating a moderate to claim some measure of political victory, I didn't expect, but wouldn't have been surprised at.
But Bush nominating someone based on sheer cronyism?? Whose judicial experience amounts to two years on the federal bench, three years as a Rhenquist aide, and several terms as a lawyer in the Reagan and Bush presidential cabinet???
Is Bush paying off campaign debts? Does he just want to make things soft for people he likes? Or is he maybe preparing the way for a Laura Bush '08 candidacy to get around Amendment XXII?
However you slice it, I'm appalled.

My train of thought:
(1) OK, GWB isn't going to just nominate anti-freedom theocrats to the Court- he's going to nominate his political cronies.
(2) Please, please, PLEASE can we impeach him?
(3) No, because that leaves President Dick Cheney.
(4) Impeach 'em both before they can name replacement VPs.
(5) That would make the Speaker of the House president.
(6) HASTERT HASTERT HASTERT
