I did not need this...
Dec. 31st, 2007 09:15 pmSo, after trying and failing at using a Best Buy gift card, trying and failing at drumming up wholesale sales at a couple of stores in Houston, and picking up stuff I needed, I came home long before midnight, having no interest in seeking out outdoor New Year events with the temperature dropping from the 70s to the upper 30s with the front coming in.
I return to a house reeking of smoke.
While I was gone my grandmother decided to fry something- this after she made enough meatloaf for eight and other food in similar proportions. She'd just sprayed the pan with a Pam knock-off when the phone rang. She left the pan on the stove while she talked, and talked... until she was forced to ask the other person to hang up because of the smoke.
This is by no means the first time she's done something like this; it's been a hazard with her for the past TWENTY years that I can attest to, and maybe even longer. She just can't get it through her head that phones and cooking are incompatible.
But the thing is, stuff like that is what I'm supposed to be HERE for. Is it getting so I can't even leave her a few hours without supervision?
