One of the disadvantages of living way the hell out in the boondocks is well water. Granted, you don't have to pay a water bill (yet), but the water is as it comes out of the ground- hard, with grit, sand, and occasionally rust or sulfur.

And, occasionally, the well pump dies.

Like it did today, in the middle of my laundry.

Getting it replaced will be complicated; the pump was installed before I moved here, and long before Hurricane Rita, which blocked the back entrance to our yard. Vernon ran wires across the driveway to his work shed, which -should- but may not be disconnected now, but will have to be raised or cut in order for a well truck to get to the well.

Oh, and let's not forget -expensive.-

And the water's out until at least Tuesday, fun fun fun, because nobody can even get the replacement pump up here until then...
