... which is why, heretofore, I wasn't going to post about Patrick McGoohan and Ricardo Montalban dying on the same day.

But then I saw this link on [livejournal.com profile] filkertom's LJ.

Mr. Smith has checked it. It's very legit- and outrageous.

I'm not all that hefty yet, despite my post from the other day, but I'm not angry because I'm fat and live in jumbled surroundings with too damn much junk I haven't thrown away yet.

I'm outraged because these were paramedics.

Granted, they're not doctors. Doctors have to swear the Hippocratic Oath, which makes healthcare not just a job but a sacred trust. As a general rule paramedics don't have to even promise to get to your home before you croak.

But being an EMT is still a position of trust. EMTs are expected to bust ass and do everything within the realm of human and technological possibility to preserve life long enough to hand it off to a fully trained doctor at a fully trained facility. Sometimes they lose this battle- and that is no shame, because there are so very very many ways for life to stop and only one way it keeps going.

These assholes didn't even try, though. They pronounced themselves judge and jury over whether or not a person deserved to live. These two budding eugenicists, these people who apparently wondered what Heinrich Himmler would do were he an ambulance driver instead of a chicken farmer, decided to cull the surplus population.

What I want to do with these two is this: tie them spread-eagled on stakes, more or less standing, on a firing range. Then contact every person who is obese to the point of mobility loss within the jurisdiction, invite them down, give them the full, complete and graphic facts of the case...

... and give them each a gun with one bullet.

One shot per customer, morbidly fat people ONLY. I grant that I would therefore be disqualified, but I can live with that.

The shooting continues until either the line runs out or there's not enough intact flesh to shoot.

If, by the generosity or poor marksmanship of the wronged group, either of these cretins is still alive at the end, by all means let him get prompt and thorough medical treatment afterwards.

My bet is, what's left has the consistency of raw ground chuck.

... one of my other LJ friends had a dragon egg on her LJ today.

A dragon egg.

And what amounted to a dare to click on it.

I did, I went to a site, I registered, and I got my own dragon egg. Here it is.

Adopt one today!

And now I'm asking all of you to click the dragon egg, and to click it again whenever you see it for the next few days until it hatches.

And I'm hoping you'll do this enough that the egg hatches; that way, just maybe, I might find out if there's some kind of point to this besides online damn Tamagotchi...
