My muscles are a bit sore, but I think a daily 30 min./1 hr. WiiFit workout is going to do me good. It'll certainly be easier to make a routine of this.
Thus far, here's my reviews of the games I got when I got the Wii:
Wii Sports (comes with the Wii): Tennis... eh. Baseball... a bit frustrating trying to figure things out. Golf... doubly frustrating, since I play golf and this really does NOT feel like it. Bowling... WONDERFUL. Perfect, except without the weight of the ball to deal with. Perfectly mimics my real life skills (which suck). Haven't tried bowling or training yet. All in all, not bad for an include-in game.
Wii Fit Plus: As fat as I am, I'm often out of breath from simple yoga exercises... but in all honesty I've never seen as good a workout system as this for non-athletes. There is a VAST variety of exercises that change out repeatedly- yoga to strength-building to motion-driven video games. (The most embarassing involves your Mii/avatar dressed in a chicken suit... and the RL you flapping your arms to fly.) I have only one complaint: the system uses BMI as its primary health indicator. BMI, as I've said here before, is bullshit. The machine claims that my ideal weight is 155. At my lightest in adult life I was 170... and able to count ribs and slice things open on my cheekbones. Despite that, I love it.
Super Paper Mario: Hm, intriguing, but not as good as Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door was for GameCube. Currently stuck at first main boss (a giant dragon), whose weak point I can't seem to hit at all.
The Simpsons Game: UGH. Graphics are horrible for this advanced a system. Gameplay is frustrating as hell. Camera management is a pain in the ass. Even used, I paid too much for this. Electronic Arts, your games SUCK- how the hell did you get such raves on this one, when it plainly is NOT all that good?
O-Kami: Haven't put it in yet.
I've held off buying more games- technically I have the money, but I want to wait until I get bored with the other games I've got before blowing dough on more. That said, I've made a
special Wii-centric Amazon Wish List for those WLP fans or otherwise who might want to buy something for me.
(Which reminds me: I need to keep an eye out for a couple things for folks I didn't see during Christmas, but for whom I now have gift budget, with the remaining Wii money staying in my pocket for now...)
Also... if any of you have Wii, what other games do you recommend, besides what I have and what's on that wish list?
