More on the flopped April Fool.

I just checked on the statistics for April 1, 2006.
Here are the numbers for pages which were replaced by the April Fool FBI spoof:
Peter is the Wolf index page (adult version) - 2,007
Chocolate Milkmaid index page - 1,777
Chichi-chan index page - 940
WLP Main Page (adult version) - 664
WLP Root Page (general-adult split) - 650
Stellar index page - 618
Peter is the Wolf index page (general version) - 252
WLP Main Page (general version) - 51
And here are the numbers for the old pages, accessible by clicking on a link at the bottom of the gag page if the viewer scrolled down:
Peter is the Wolf index page (adult version) - 460
Chocolate Milkmaid index page - 311
Chichi-chan index page - 162
WLP Main Page (adult version) - 129
WLP Root Page (general-adult split) - 81
Stellar index page - 93
Peter is the Wolf index page (general version) - 71
WLP Main Page (general version) - 8
Which means that five out of every six viewers fell into one of three categories:
* 'Bots
* People who didn't care about what was on the page
* People actually fooled by the joke
What worries me is, if the first or second category describes the majority of those hits, then WLP and its creations are a LOT less popular than I thought.
It's worth noting that over 4,400 distinct and unique hosts were detected by the stats counter for yesterday alone.
Oh, and according to the same stats, absolutely nobody noticed the joke and passed word on to others. Not a sausage, bugger-all.
I was really hoping this would have some significant effect, but all it's done is reinforce my insignificance.
Think I'll shower, clear my head, and write the next chapter of _Safeharbor_ now.
