Rodrigues beats Bonilla

One has to wonder just how much "upset" has to do with the National Democratic Party slithering in and outspending the opposition. There seems something inappropriate about the National section of the Party coming to the aid of a State race, even if it is for the Legislature.
It also leaves one wondering whether the winner could have won any other way. My concern is that with a Democratically controlled Legislature, and Republican President; will anything of merit be submitted and/or passed into Law for the next two years? Both parties are under the control of extreme elements, and in some ways make the Libertarian positions seem not only moderate, but pedestrian!
As I've mentioned before, I believe both parties are out of touch with the People, and have ceased to care about the centerists, who make up the vast majority of the electorate. Both parties have apparently decided that the disaffected Center can be controlled by Legislation, rather than by participation in the process of Government...and that's frightening, since it's right out of Gibbons' "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire". Yet, we do get the government we deserve, under our system; and whether it's to our betterment or our harm usually depends on who you ask: the In-powers, or the Out-Powers.
IF the Libertarian Party can stay centered, and not wander off spouting Economics; it may become a viable third party. That is, however, a really big If.....

Actually, the Republicans and Bonilla outspent Rodriguez by about four to one.

The Democrats are making noises about repealing the Military Commissions Act, aka Torture All You Want, We Won't Prosecute. They might also reduce the Patriot Act a bit, and they'll do whatever they can to get us out of Iraq. Unfortunately, that's the only positive changes I foresee, especially since the Dems want a Dem President in 2009 with all the powers Bush has now.
