Nice piece, Kris. My problem with the immigration restrictionists is that while they may be understandably bitter, they're taking it out on the wrong targets. Let's get rid of social welfare spending, in toto, and throw the borders wide open.
Here's an article about John Edwards that you might find interesting. At least he's taking note of those less fortunate than himself -- something which can't be said for a lot of the front-runners.
(1) Ambulance-chasing trial lawyers always claim to be looking out for the little guy. Edwards averaged a 30% cut for every case or settlement he won. For altruism, that's very profitable indeed.
(2) Politicians always claim to want to look out for the little guy- and that's coming from the horse's mouth. There are a lot more poor people than rich people, and they vote.
I consider the term "ambulance-chasing" to be both inaccurate (possibly libelous) and rabble-rousing in this case. You do a lot of that -- I don't think I've ever seen you refer to a politician without some form of it -- and it doesn't do much for your credibility.
Quick summation: Edwards uses empty emotional arguments and junk science to win massive judgements that bankrupt innocent doctors and make it nearly impossible to get medical liability insurance in North Carolina.
As for rabble-rousing, as a member of the rabble I for one think we need to be roused. There's not a single person on Capitol Hill- including Ron Paul- that I don't find objectionable to some degree.

I'm not at all impressed with Edwards' "concern."
