The broken tooth that was scheduled for root canal on Wednesday was infected beyond salvage; it got yanked today.
Now the dentist is saying that an implant replacement would be about a grand- slightly cheaper than the root canal and crown would have been. I'll think seriously about it- I priced implants last year online and got answers of about $4000 and up per tooth...
Anyway, more dental work on Wednesday, and with the trouble tooth gone for now the overall must-do dental bill has shrunk significantly. I've just taken my first Vicodin (or, rather, the generic substitute Wal-Mart has given me- a hydrocodone and acetaminophen blend) and am waiting for it to kick in and for the hole where my tooth was to stop bleeding. I kept switching gauze until the gauze began irritating the rest of my gums on that side...

Oh- one other thing...
Sep. 22nd, 2008 04:01 pm... while waiting for my pain pills to be filled, I went shopping down at one of the local pawn shops. Since doctor's orders are to avoid strenuous activity for the next few days, I wanted to see if there were any video games I could try out on the cheap.
In addition to a handful of cheap games, I discovered two anime box sets for ten bucks EACH.
Ranma 1/2: Digital Dojo I am keeping.
The Revolutionary Girl Utena: Apocalypse Saga box set will either become a gift or will be sold for $20, depending. I'll want to do some research on how the resale market is on that.
Scoring either one out here in Podunkia is, however, a fluke not to be passed up- especially for ten bucks for two four-disk sets. Budget be damned.
