GOD DAMMIT.

And I discover today- just today- that a good chunk of stuff I had on consignment at CoastCon didn't make it on the truck back to Polk County.
Specifically, the Giant Microbes I had at the booth, in an effort to attract people. I only had a 10% commission on those...
... and I've lost unsold stock worth hundreds of dollars.
JESUS CHRIST.
Is there a big red "SELF DESTRUCT" button on my forehead or something that I keep pushing?
Anyway, I've put in a request for wholesale terms to the manufacturer, in hopes of easing the pain of repaying the owner for the lost stock. I might as well stock the damn things myself while I'm at it.
In the meantime... begging BIG TIME now...

Date: 2008-04-18 11:22 pm (UTC)As for how... the plush travelled down to Mobile in a big black trash bag, since there wasn't room in the truck for another box. When I packed up, I hadn't sold enough stuff to free up room in a box for more than between one-third and half of the plush. The remainder went back into the trash bag, after first going into three shopping bags.
The thing is, I remember double-checking my booth area on the last load and making certain there was nothing else left to load. That means one of two things happened: (1) I lost the bag off the handtruck on the long pull to my truck, or (2) while I was working on a prior load, the facility's janitorial staff saw a black bag and grabbed it, thinking it trash.
Either way, I'm responsible, and there's nothing that can be done to remedy it except to pay the man back for his losses.
I'd prefer to do this by restoring his stock, if I can get the manufacturers to send me wholesale terms, but we'll see.
