So, Mr. Obama's upset that America won't host the World Cup in 2022, is he?

Well, Mr. Obama, maybe, just maybe, the fact that you've gone to extraordinary and likely extraconstitutional lengths to protect those who ordered and committed torture from being prosecuted anywhere on Earth had some influence on the World Cup authorities.

Maybe, they thought, athletes from Muslim-dominant countries would be less likely to be arrested and vanished to a black site in Czar Putin's Russia or the autocratic Emirate of Qatar than in the freedom-loving United States of America.

And maybe, just maybe, the rest of the world ought to give the back of the hand to the US more often, until our leaders figure out that what we've done, and what we continue to do, is IMMORAL and UNLAWFUL and WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

I could wish, anyway.

I suspect that the war on tourism may have had some effect-- perhaps as much as American policies which wouldn't affect travelers directly.
