Ron Paul's 2008 campaign finance manager died destitute, owing $400K in medical bills.
So, when Ron Paul says that charity and churches will take care of you when Medicare and Obamacare are abolished... don't you believe it.
Discover Card fraudulently forecloses on a home for credit card debt owed by the owner's father.
Oh, and did we mention the owner is an active duty Marine?
What do you want to bet the Dallas County constable who confiscated the home is Republican? Way to support the troops...
A good reason for the Palestinians to push for international recognition: equal standing in negotiations.
Because, to be blunt, this is the only leverage the Palestinians have left. The Israeli government is honestly out of control at this point- they're willing to defy the entire world and all considerations of moral conduct in their effort to annex the West Bank and keep the Palestinians effectively imprisoned in their own land. The United States does itself no favors by continuing to obey Netanyahu's every command- indeed, if the US vetoes Palestinian independence, we can pretty much consider diplomatic relations with the non-Israel Middle East at an end.
The International Monetary Fund publishes a study proving that cutting government spending in a recession makes things worse.
Which, of course, is why Obama is proposing it- and driving the "super Congress" to do it. Hooray, "compromise."
It's this sort of thing that makes me look with longing at the prospect of emigration to England. If this is democracy, I'll take my chances with the queen.
(I'd choose Germany, but I speak no German, and my favorite shows don't come from there.)

The problem of paying all possible medical costs is too big for the government also, because there is no limit to how much medical treatment can cost.
Now, Ron Paul definitely WON'T, because if his employees can't afford health insurance without him as employer kicking in a part of it, well, let them die. They should be more responsible people.
If his way is that bad, why would anyone work for him at all, let alone work for him to become president?

It's also completely consistent for a campaign manager to support their cause by accepting less compensation for their position than would be expected for a permanent career.

Date: 2011-09-16 06:45 am (UTC)Paul did more than his part by saving numerous mothers and babies for free and others for less than the going rate by declining Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement in his obstetrics practice; that unclaimed money was then available to help other physicians save that many more disadvantaged patients of theirs.
