I had the opportunity today to watch Batman: the Dark Knight at the Livingston theater- and passed it by. I'm waiting for video.

Instead, I went golfing for the first time in two years. I had one of my better outings, including one par and two bogeys. (I also had a 13; the par 5s ate me alive today.) My total round, for a par 70 twice-round-the-nine course, was 131. I had fun, although the last four holes or so I was seriously hurting from both the heat and the wonderful happy adipose tissue built up around and through my torso. When you have trouble breathing because the fat -under- your ribs is pressing on your lungs, you're too fucking fat.

Of course, a lot of that, probably the majority, was heat exhaustion. It was in the low 90s with high humidity, sunny sky, and (after about hole 5) no wind whatever, except what the cart produced when I was driving. There's not much water on the Livingston city course to cool things off, either- Choates Creek is low, and the small branch that crosses the course was completely dry. (Which didn't stop me losing a ball in it, one of three lost on the round- although I found five balls other people had lost, so I came out ahead on that count.)

Went to a sitdown restraunt to eat... well, sitdown-ish. Buster McNutty's is a name that, were it in Houston, would be on a strip club or titty bar. In Livingston, it's a steakhouse/sports bar mix, with prices higher than either one would justify. I couldn't even take a bite of the hamburger "steak" which represented the cheapest dinner on the menu (at eight bucks)... because I'd filled up on two and a half glasses of 7-Up. I'm working on the leftovers now... and Salisbury steak covered with practically raw onions should not be shoe-leather tough. And Texas toast with the texture of French toast? Not recommended, y'all.

Hopefully this day out will get my creative drive going.

Or maybe the penultimate episode of Doctor Who that I just watched, which kicks all the ass, might do it.

In fact, [livejournal.com profile] darkzel, how familiar are you with old-school Doctor Who? Might be an idea for the next Chichi set...
