Every scrap of plywood that's even remotely intact has been used to make the living room almost safe. (Wasn't able to completely cover two windows.) Most of the lightweight stuff has been stashed out of the open to try to keep the wind from grabbing it.

Truck is moved into the expected lee of the house, away from the worst winds. My grandmother has cooked the contents of the two fridges (and far too much of the contents of the little freezers). Photos and video have been taken of the house, exterior and interior. Flashlights and lanterns have been prepped, although (alas) we ended up not being able to put batteries in the radios.

All the preparation that we can do, has been done.

My aunt and grandmother will go to my great-uncle's brick home for the storm itself; I'll ride it out here. By about 1 PM tomorrow the worst should be over; the sustained hurricane winds are predicted to miss us, but barely, which means at least 60 MPH sustained here from about 8 PM until at least 10 AM tomorrow.

And finally, since everyone else is doing the Adams meme, I remind you of yesterday: "This must be Thursday," Arthur said. "I could never get the hang of Thursdays."
