Political issue writing prompt...

redneckgaijinWell, there were a lot of things that made me angry today that I could have posted about at LYAN- including a scientific study (fatally flawed in my opinion) that apparently proves that people who believe race should not be important are in fact racists; Iraqi prime minister al-Maliki saying that, since the celebrated free country of America commits torture, that makes it A-OK for Iraq to do it too; and Barack Obama's people asking me to donate to the cause, despite my repeated requests to be removed from their mailing lists and a list of the many, many reasons why I cannot support his torturer-defending, unlimited-executive-power-expanding, caving-in-to-special-interests-and-Republicans "movement".
But a Firefox crash took most of the URLs out, and I don't feel like going back to look them up again. Believe it or not, I do NOT enjoy feeling angry, or fearful, or upset. To be blunt, it makes me sick. So, all that stuff that makes me angry about politics gets dropped.
Instead, I'd like to talk about what I am in favor of.
So: comment with one, and ONLY one, general issue. Please don't be too specific- don't say, "The Terri Schaivo case," say, "end-of-life issues." I'll respond with some generalities, and possibly some specifics, on where I stand on the issue.
BE WARNED: if you present your own opinion on the subject, or respond to mine with a dissenting opinion, I will have no compunctions whatever about getting into an argument on anything I disagree with. Just because I don't like being angry about politics doesn't mean it doesn't happen, or that I do nothing about it. Anger at politics put me in the Libertarian Party for eight years, and anger at Obama has me looking at third parties again today.
