LYAN: Why Bush Must Be Impeached

No matter what the consequences, impeachment must at least be tried... at least, that's my argument. Even a Democratic defeat in 2008 due to impeachment is not as bad as a Democratic victory in a world where George W. Bush has been proven right about his theory of a "unitary executive."
I expect a lot of disagreement, based on answers to the questions meme I started, but that's how I feel.
Sadly, I really suspect impeachment won't happen... not just because Democrats want to win, but because a lot of Democrats want all that power to spy, to pry, to conceal, and to war for their OWN use...

Date: 2007-07-12 09:48 pm (UTC)As for getting a president not a puppet of the existing parties, bear in mind how difficult it is for non-Democrat, non-Republican candidates to get on ballots in most states. From 1992 to 2004- four elections- no more than five candidates in any given year got on the ballot in enough states to challenge a majority of the electoral college. Getting a -good- president may be impossible. Instead we need to focus on getting rid of a president so bad that his continued term of office poses an active threat to the very existence of our republic.
